It offers similar services to what vpost is having, and on top of that, we get free shipping for the first 2kg when we first sign up, so I decided to give it a try.
I ordered two Blu-Ray discs from Amazon and had them shipped to hopshopgo.com, since Amazon provided free shipping. The parcel arrived on a saturday and there was no one to receive it, so it was returned to the post office. No problem, as I just went to USPS' website and arranged a redelivery. You will need the tracking number that Amazon provided you though. The parcel was delivered by Monday morning, so it was all pretty fast.
I received a package received email from hopshopgo on Wednesday, informing me that they have received my parcel. So I arranged to have them delivered to Singapore. I chose express delivery, since hopshopgo is providing free shipping lol. You do have to pay for the mandatory insurance of $0.39 with Paypal though.
By Wednesday afternoon, the package was on its way to me. It is being sent by DHL, so tracking is very detailed. I even know that my parcel went to Hong Kong. I was wondering whether DHL provides delivery on Saturdays, so I called up to check. They have no idea when my parcel will arrive in Singapore, so I told them to deliver if my parcel arrives in Singapore on Saturday. They were very nice, and kept me informed through regular updates by phone. They called me on Friday and told me that the parcel was enroute from Hong Kong, and if it does arrive in Singapore on Saturday, they will arrange delivery for me. They called me again on Saturday morning and confirmed that my shipment has arrived and that they will deliver it by Saturday afternoon. I felt like it was concierge service. Singpost should certainly take a leaf out of DHL's book. Their service charges are almost on par with DHL but sadly customer service and service standards is still lacking. However, let's not turn this into a Singpost bashing entry.
By 4pm in the afternoon on Saturday, I had received my shipment. :)
I did a comparison of the charges, and if I were to ship them direct from Amazon, it would cost even more, and it is only regular shipping:
Express shipping by hopshop go cost $12.27 (without the free shipping promo), and regular shipping by Amazon is $12.97. Therefore, I think hopshopgo is worth a try, and coupled with DHL's excellent service, they would make a pleasant experience and maybe even a competitor for vpost's service.
However, a word of caution, they do go by volumetric shipping, so small items like DVD may be more worth it. I have yet to try buying clothes and getting them shipped via hopshopgo, but if I do I would post my experience here.
